In just a few hours we will say goodbye to 2012 and we will welcome 2013 with our hearts full of hopes and new plans.
It hardly seems that another year has gone by already. Definitely, this has been an intense and amazing year. Actually amazing doesn’t even start to express how incredible and blessed it was! Beginning with our greatest blessing this year: Victoria. Our health is good. Our families, although they are far away, have been around all year. I’m starting a new job (which I love). My children are healthy and I have an amazing man by my side … What else I can ask? It has been so incredible good to us that we’re extending many prayers of gratitude.
Our Christmas was great. We share with family. We ate delicious food. My little man was fascinated with all his toys and we enjoyed tremendously all previous preparations, which included a trip to the toy store at 1 in the morning.
This day is inevitable for me to feel a bit of nostalgia, as my family is far away, but we try to stay connected thanks to the technology and of course through family traditions. As I type, I have a Pernil in the oven. It will be served with hallacas, pan de jamon (bread ham) and ensalada de gallina (chicken salad)… Yummy!!!
In Latin America there are many traditions for new Year’s Eve. Some of them are: to eat lentils for prosperity, walk around the block with a suitcase, ask 12 wishes at midnight while eating 12 grapes and many more!
I try to keep our traditions alive … so you can be sure that at midnight we will be toasting with champagne, eating 12 grapes and asking twelve wishes. I did not have time to cook the lentils but I have a can I hope it works the same LOL.
